The Junta Central Fallera (JCF) has frozen falla activity and the official agenda until Sunday 1 November after the high-speed rail crash on Wednesday 28 October in Urda (Toledo), where two trains collided leaving at least 68 dead. València has joined the three days of official mourning, from midnight on the 29th to midnight on the 31st.

The suspension hit at once: the play-back contest session scheduled for Wednesday night at the Canal hall was cancelled, as was the awards ceremony of the Cruces de Mayo (Lo Rat Penat), due to take place in the City Hall hemicycle. The Teatre Faller performances have also been suspended and will need new dates.

Activity returns on Sunday 1, once the official mourning is over, with the children's play-back contest at the Canal hall and Balls al Carrer in Plaza de la Merced — the season's opening session, which the dana had already pushed back from 18 October.

Fallera Mayor of València Beatriz Blanco did join the minute of silence held in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, alongside the Fallas councillor Santiago Ballester. The commissions have followed the same lead: many have announced the cancellation of their events, starting with Saturday's Halloween parties, which are being called off or postponed. Some central commissions, such as Guillem Sorolla-Recaredo, have even closed their casal and shared emergency phone numbers.

There is a precedent: the same mourning protocol was applied in January after the Adamuz crash, when events such as the Indumentaria Gala or the trip to Fitur had to be rescheduled, and after the dana, which kept activity on hold for weeks. This time the official calendar picks up again on Sunday, but the fiesta has come to a standstill to observe silence.
