Valencia city council has the 2027 Fallas charter all but drafted. The second working meeting, chaired on Wednesday by the councillor for Fallas, Santiago Ballester, settled the two measures residents will notice most: restricted hours for noisy fireworks and five parks where nothing can be let off during the festival.
The restriction covers detonating bangers, fountains and F2 or F3 combinations used as cohetes borrachos, plus T1 rocket batteries. From 7 to 12 March they cannot be used between 10pm and 7.30am the following morning. From 13 to 19 March the night ban narrows to 2am–7.30am. From midnight on 20 March use is limited, unless it is needed for the Cremà.
The five firecracker-free areas are Benimar park, the Espai Verd in Nazaret and the parks of Oeste, Orriols and Benicalap, all of which will be signposted. The stated aim is to offer quiet refuges for pets and urban wildlife.
Paella on 7 March, marquees from 11 to 19
The street-occupation calendar is closed too. The Crida will be on Sunday 28 February, the same day the buñuelo stalls open; they run until 19 March. As an exceptional measure, committees may hold their traditional paella in the street on Sunday 7 March, inside their own boundary, between 10am and 8pm and with no music.
Marquees may be installed, as a general rule, between 11 and 19 March, a week later than in 2026. Monument pieces may start arriving on 6 March for Special Section and First A fallas, and on 11 March for the rest. Markets and food stalls are authorised from 12 to 19 March, with a ceiling of 20 stalls — nine selling food, four cooking on site. Mojito stands and alcohol-only food trucks remain banned. Illuminated streets crossing Holy Week processions in the maritime districts must be dismantled before 2pm on 20 March.
Opposition wants fines, not advice
Compromís welcomed the end of the mojito stands but criticised the fact that the March culture committee agreement remains advisory. The coalition argues nobody can currently be fined for setting off fireworks outside the allowed hours or in a banned area, and notes that complaints over firework misuse rose from 622 in 2025 to 2,806 in 2026, up 351 %. It wants clear rules against what it calls "so-called firework tourism".
