The Barraca-Espadán falla already has its monuments for March. The Cabanyal committee presented the sketches for both 2027 fallas on Monday night at an event that also served, as tradition demands, to sign contracts with the artists. The bet is continuity: Luis Espinosa takes on the big falla for the eleventh year running and Álex López repeats on the children's one for a fourth year.

The adult project is titled Per molt que bufe el vent ("However hard the wind blows") and will compete in Section 3B. Espinosa moves the troubles caused by wind — headaches, above all — into the social, political and economic sphere. It is the satire and running commentary on current affairs that has served him well in this district.

The children's falla, Emocionari. Diccionari d'emocions ("Emotionary. A dictionary of feelings"), goes into Section 4. López takes the viewer through emotions that are hard to put into words: the sheer happiness that makes you want to fly, the surprise of the girls who get the mayor's phone call to become Fallera Mayor Infantil, or the sadness that rain brings.

A record that explains the trust

This is no courtesy renewal. With Espinosa, Barraca-Espadán took second prize in 3C in 2023 with Politò Hamelín, first in the same section plus second for Wit and Humour in 2024 with Sex Pirinlou, and fourth in 3C with another second for Wit and Humour in 2025. Álex López joined in 2024 with En el cor del Cabanyal — fourth prize in Section 3 and best ninot of the section —, followed it with a second in 2025 and this year landed a third in section plus another third for Wit and Humour with Nuvología.

The event was chaired by committee president José Antonio Lacomba Ríos, together with fallera mayor Sandra Picazo Cases, children's fallera mayor Lucía Ruiz Palanca and children's president Mauro Pi Cerveró.

With this presentation, the 2027 sketch calendar enters its busiest stretch: Valencia's committees now line up events almost every weekend until the new fallero year properly begins in January.
