Blanquerías has its falla for 2027. The commission has once again given free rein to designer Javier Valiente, who will sign his third consecutive project in this central Valencia demarcation under the title Entre Pintes i Pintors. The sketch was unveiled last weekend and Levante-EMV reported on it this Tuesday.

The starting point is a question that has been doing the rounds in the casales for years: why do we look more at whoever wears the 'pinta' than at whoever paints the falla? Valiente turns it into a monument. The commission sums it up as "a critical look at today's fallas and a reflection on the festival we want tomorrow", and the artist himself describes it as the grievance felt by one part of the festival — the part that lives for ephemeral art — against the attention claimed by the representational side, the falleras mayores.

From 'El Pes de la Tradició' to the 'pinta' debate

This is not new ground for Valiente. In 2025 he signed El Pes de la Tradició, one of the most celebrated pieces of that year's Fallas, and in 2026 he followed it with Mentires en Construcció. Both leaned on geometry, concept and a look recognisable from metres away. For 2027 he keeps the same line and puts the Revolution workshop at the service of the debate.

Valiente is a graphic designer and creative, and he has moved across several fronts in the fallero world: posters, publications, monument design and even a bid for the municipal falla. His signature is now an identity of its own within Valencian ephemeral art.

Blanquerías, for its part, has spent decades backing projects that step outside the section's strict canon, with varying luck in the jury's verdict. The commission will compete in section 8B at the 2027 Fallas.

The announcement adds to the list of sketches already revealed for March. In recent days commissions such as Plaça de la Tenda, El Palau, Padre Doménech-Pío XII and Isabel de Villena-Gregorio Gea, from Mislata, have presented their projects. Four and a half months remain until the plantà.
